The problem behind the system.

I wanted an environment that was more than a toy cluster: real applications, real persistent data, real networking and enough failure modes to force better engineering decisions.

02 / BUILD

How I approached it.

  • Proxmox hosts with TrueNAS-backed storage and a k3s cluster for application workloads.
  • OPNsense at the edge, segmented networking, ingress, certificates and remote-access infrastructure.
  • Self-hosted services such as photo management, finance tooling and internal utilities that make the platform worth operating.
03 / OUTCOME

What the system enabled.

Running the full stack has made infrastructure, operability and failure recovery part of how I think about application architecture — not concerns delegated to later.
