Investment Order Management
An order-management workflow for investment teams — carrying securities buy/sell instructions from the relationship manager through approvals, market execution and operational settlement.
The problem behind the system.
A securities order is not a single action. An RM initiates the buy or sell instruction, the order moves through required approvals, treasury and traders take it to market, and operations completes the downstream settlement work. Every hand-off needs a clear state and ownership trail.
How I approached it.
- Modelled the end-to-end lifecycle from RM order capture through approvals, treasury/trader execution and operations settlement.
- Represented the business hand-offs as explicit workflow states so each team could see what was waiting for them and what had already happened.
- Worked across the application and workflow layers to keep the order journey coherent for users rather than exposing the mechanics of the process engine.
What the system enabled.
The system provided one controlled journey for investment orders across the teams involved, making the progression of a buy/sell instruction visible from initiation through market execution and settlement.
